Footprints for Cambridge families
and young people

Footprints for Cambridge families and young people CCI began working in February on a pilot programme for our outdoors work - Footprints: Developing communities through creative engagement in green spaces. Through playful workshops for families and other groups, CCI will be supporting communities to build links with their local green spaces.
Parents at the first workshop said: It's just great to be outside.
I was fascinated by how my daughter was concentrating on tasks.
(I enjoyed) being outside with the children with no agenda. Looking closely at things together.
(I learned) that it's good to let the children get on and play.
With a vision of communities playing, learning and working together in their local green space, the pilot project will be working with families living in the Abbey and Chesterton areas of Cambridge and with young carers from across the city. Our partners for this pilot phase are Fields Children’s Centre, Shirley Primary School, Centre 33 Young Carers Programme, Romsey Mill Young Parents, Cambridge City Green Spaces team, and Family Learning.
Through recent consultation CCI has held with local schools and groups, it is clear that communities are benefitting significantly from these experiences.

The pilot programme has been funded by Awards for All. A longer Footprints programme is currently being planned for 2010 – 2013 working with communities in both Cambridge City and County.
This is a project that enriches lives, changes lives. With CCI the children will learn that the beauty of the countryside is theirs to enjoy, and ultimately, theirs to protect. The value of CCI to the children, to the local community, and to the preservation of the countryside will be immeasurable.
